So, does Youtube pay through Mpesa?
Well, here is the correct answer and answers to other important Youtube Questions in Kenya including how much you can make from YouTube in Kenya (depending on views)
Does Youtube pay through Mpesa (does YouTube pay through mobile money) and how does YouTube pay in Kenya?
The short answer is NO.
If you want to monetize YouTube in Kenya, you can only be paid either via a Cheque, EFT (electronic funds transfer) or a wire transfer straight to your bank account.
So No Mpesa option for you or even Paypal
Below is what you need to know about these methods..
Cheque
They’ll write and send you a check which I find a bit cumbersome because it takes time to receive (they send it via international courier) and cash the cheque.
Wire Transfer
Your earnings will be deposited into your chosen bank account straight(and yes, it will be in Kenya Shillings).
Wire Transfer is the fastest and easiest way to be paid your YouTube earnings as all you need is a genuine bank account.
Does YouTube pay directly to your bank account?
Yes- once you for for Wire transfer, the cash comes in religiously every 21-22nd of the Month -and it hits your account as soon as Google releases it.
Keep in mind that when setting up your bank account details, Google requires you to follow the listed wire instructions below:
Electronic Funds Transfer
At the time of writing this, EFT- which involves Google making a direct deposit to your bank- option was not available for Kenyan YouTubers
What about Western Union?
Remember there’s no Western Union transfers either- They stopped paying via Western Union sometimes back.
And does YouTube pay through Paypal?
Nope. Choose Wire Transfer- it’s the best for now.
How much does youtube pay per subscriber in Kenya
There’s no pay per subcriber- you’re paid per click on the Ads shown on your channel.
To be clear, on average, you will get paid per millie (1000 views) and in Kenya the RPM is about $1-$3 for most YouTube niches.
So you may earn Kshs.100 to Kshs.300 per 1000 views depending on what your niches (news and gossip niches pay the least with finance niche among the highest paying).
How much does YouTube pay in Kenya for 1 million subscribers
Again payment is not pegged on subcribers- instead, your earnings will depend on the number of views you gain for your videos.
And that means the more your videos get watched, the more your earnings.
But it is not easy to give an accurate figure- there are so many variables that determine how much you can make on YouTube in Kenya so what I can give you is just an estimate:
How many views does YouTube pay?
Now, as mentioned, for 1000 views, you get around 100 to Kshs.300 at the moment so 1 million views can be anything between kshs.100000 to kshs. 300000 -depending on factors like your niche, season, etc.
So you may not make a lot of money if you don’t have crazy watch hours.
In short, having 1 million subscribers is not a big deal if they’re not watching your content- and clicking on ads.
Phew!
100k subscribers on YouTube salary in Kenya
This is another question I often get- How much you be paid if you get 100k subcribers (in the form of a salary).
Well, I’m sorry to tell you this: Nothing is guaranteed with YouTube and just because you have hit 100k subcribers does not mean you’ll now start getting paid a monthly salary.
Nope- what you need to do is nudge people to watch your videos and more importantly, not to skip ads as that is what will pay you.
And you will once more be paid around 100 to Kshs.300 at the moment for every 1000 views.
500k subscribers on youtube salary in Kenya
You already know the answer: There is nothing like a YouTube salary -unless you’re working for Google directly- regardless of how many subcribers you have on the platform.
Just put in the work -and create great content and get a way of having viewers watch the videos- if you want to guarantee yourself a regular payment as a YouTuber in Kenya.
Reminder: You will be paid around 100 to Kshs.300 at the moment for every 1000 views
How much does youtube pay for 10000 views in Kenya
Pay is from Kshs 100 to Kshs.300 for every 1000 views so you can multiply with 10000 views to see how much you could earn (I think you will get between Kshs1000 to Kshs.3000) for 10000 views.
That is how youtube pays per views in Kenya at the time of writing this.
Does youtube pay monthly?
I already told you you’ll be getting Kshs 100 to Kshs.300 for every 1000 views.
On a more positive note, pay is sent monthly so what you earned last month will be paid to you between date 21-22nd of the next/coming month.
What I mean by last month is that your earnings for January are paid on February (21-22nd) as long as you have passed the minimum threshold- if below, your earnings are usually pushed to the next/upcoming month(in the hope they’ll have hit the threshold).
Does Youtube pay through Mpesa (can YouTube pay through mpesa)- Recap.
Nope. Choose Wire Transfer as your method to have your cash deposited into your Kenyan bank account directly every 21-22nd of the next month (payment date for previous month’s YouTube earnings).
Happy YouTubing and may your earnings match your hard work!
