Like other courses, the cyber security course entry requirements will also vary depending on the level you intend on taking.

For this reason, we shall look at the requirements for each level on their own.

Certificate in Cyber Security requirements (TVET CDACC level 5 certificate)

This is more of an introductory course to cyber security.

The course usually takes 1 year to complete.

Unfortunately, it might not guarantee you a career as a cyber security professional.

This is because its course curriculum is not that comprehensive.

Nonetheless, it’s a good course if you intend to use it as a stepping stone to a diploma course.

This can be the case if you have fallen short of the diploma course requirements.

Having said that, to qualify for the Certificate in Cyber Security program in Kenya, you only need to have a D plain in KCSE.

Diploma in Cyber Security course requirements – TVET CDACC Cyber Security level 6

This is a good starting point if you want to pursue a career as a full-time cyber security professional.

This is because most institutions offering the course have a comprehensive curriculum.

At Kenya Online College, we take it a notch higher by teaching you the course using a fully hands-on approach.

This way, we guarantee that our students are market-ready even before they graduate… Most of our students proceed to quickly secure jobs upon graduation thanks to the hands-on training approach.

That said, you’re a good fit to pursue a Diploma in Cyber Security in Kenya if you meet these requirements:

  • Have a C- (C minus) in KCSE
  • Or, have a TVET CDACC level 5 Certificate in Cyber Security

Degree in Cyber Security entry requirements (Bachelor of Science)

Of course, to qualify for a Bachelor of Science in Computer/Information/Cyber Security, you will require more than a good grade.

According to data from KUCCPS, here are the minimum entry requirements for the program:

  • At least an aggregate grade of C+ in KCSE
  • A minimum grade of C+ in both mathematics and physics
  • At least a C plain in either English or Kiswahili

If you apply at the institution directly, you can still qualify for the degree program if you have not met these requirements.

However, this will require you to have a level 6 Cyber Security certification (Diploma in Cyber Security).

Masters in Cyber Security course requirements

  • Hold a first class or upper second class degree in computer science or IT-related field from a recognized university
  • Hold a lower second class in computer science or IT-related field plus:
    • At least two years of working experience in a related field
    • Or postgraduate diploma in computer science or IT
